An undefeated season

Congratulations go out to our junior high football team this season, who finished up with their last game yesterday, and went undefeated! We had to drop a game due to the several inches of snow that fell last week, but these guys still did great, and we are all very proud of them!

More Halloween fun!

A week late, but nevertheless...here's some more from Wes' "Trunk or Treat" at his daycare...

Future VP?

Who knows, we'll find out in a few weeks. But I got the opportunity to go to the airport last week and see Gov. Sarah Palin arrive for her rally in Scranton. We have, after all, become kind of the forefront for politics lately. Jim got to shake her hand as she got off the plane, but I was happy just to be there with my trusty camera in hand!

He'll hate me for this someday

But I don't care, it's too funny not to share!

More fall yumminess!

The colors are just amazing this year, so here's another view of the barn from last week, along with a few I took Saturday.
And of course, I have to throw in one of the little stinker...he loves to swing!

Beautiful

I've been seriously neglecting this blog, I know, but things have just been too crazy. But it is fall here in NE PA, and so far the colors are beautiful. I drive past this old barn every day on my way to school, and this morning I decided to pull over and take a picture of it, because it's just gorgeous!

4-wheelin' fun!

We went to visit grammy and pop-pop for my birthday a few weeks ago, and we decided to take Wes' quad with us, since they have a nice big yard, and thought maybe Lauren would like to try it out. We also figured it would be a good way to get Wes to actually ride it, since all he's done is sit on it, replying "Mommy, it's too big" when I tell him to make it move. Mission successful! And just one to show that yes, he does have a helmet :)

Yikes!

I just realized it's been over 2 weeks since my last blog post! Ooopps! Things have been crazy...Jim's AT for 2 weeks, fall sports practices starting last week, and landscaping at our house which also started last week. Throw in a couple of birthdays, and it's been a crazy month!

Here's a sneak peek at some of the progress of our new and improved yard! We actually have real grass now, with more coming! Very exciting!

Zoo fun!

We went to the Ross Park Zoo a few days ago, it's been years since I was last there, and we thought Wes would enjoy seeing the animals.

Then we had a nice little picnic lunch, and headed over to the Discovery Center to check that out. It's a great place for kids!

Bad blogger

It's been a week since my last post...I've been a bad blogger! Things have been busy...we went to Sesame Place last week, which was fun. We went last year also, but since Wes was only a year old, we were limited with what we could do. So we had done some rides, and all the shows. But this year, he was able to enjoy more of the rides, and we even did some water rides! Great, since it was very hot the day we went! Riding the carousel

Enjoying the summer days

On Sunday, we went over to Nay Aug Park for a welcome home party for one of country's bravest. After spending some time at the party, we decided to walk around and go see the new Kanjorski bridge, and the David Wenzel Treehouse. I have to say, I was pretty impressed. The views of the gorge from the bridge and treehouse were stunning, and for just a minute, I forgot we were in the middle of the city.
Daddy and Wes walking the path to the bridge
We saw a group of guys hanging out in the water, and some were jumping off the cliffs into the gorge...pretty crazy stuff if you ask meLittle man in a tree

I'm a big boy

While I was at my volleyball game the other night, Wes got to play with daddy. Daddy came out of the bathroom after hearing alot of noise, and this is what he saw...He thought it would be fun to put on my sneakers and walk around and try and play basketball...you gotta love it!

NYC - The final post

Our last stop in NYC was Ground Zero, at the World Trade Center site. It's really amazing how much has changed in the 3 years or so since we were last there. It was almost 7 years ago that life as we know it changed, and it seems like yesterday. Yet I somehow feel that as a whole, we Americans have forgotten that day. We don't want to see the news images replayed because "it's too difficult," but I feel that we need that kick in the butt to remind us what happened that morning. I had visited the WTC back when I was in high school on a school trip, and to see how the skyline of NYC has changed is haunting. Construction is moving along on the new buildings and the memorial gardens, but I hope that we as a country never forget the heroes that were made on that day.

The construction site

These 2 giant posters show what the skyline will look like in 4 years...crazyThese last 2 pictures were from a firehouse right across the street from the site, home of Ladder 10 and Engine Co. 10. They lost 6 members of their firehouse on Sept. 11, and they have a permanent memorial inside the station. I can't imagine what that day must have been like for them.
